Talk about a slow month! (and sorry for such a late post!) I majorly hit a reading slump in June. I’m not sure if it’s all the things asking for my brain’s energy or if I just read too much at the beginning of the year. Heck, one can never read “too” much! I even spent about 20 hours sitting in a car with plenty of access to books, but all I’ve wanted to do is binge on some Netflix or scroll through Pinterest.
I would apologize to my books, but I recognize they are not people and do not have feelings. So here is my short list of June reads!
The Rosie Project – Graeme Simsion
This was such a fun read! It had been pretty high on my reading list for a while, and I finally opened it on the beach and immediately fell in love. It still took me quite some time to finish it, but it was so worth it! The characters are quirky and I caught myself feeling alongside them often. The story line was interesting enough, but a couple parts were strung along too far. I plan on reading the sequel though! This one gets a four out of five stars for me!
For the Love – Jen Hatmaker
Of the three Hatmaker books I have read so far, this one is my favorite! I listened to this on audio book, and it was Jen who actually recorded it which made it so fun! I listened to this in one day while painting at my fiance’s house and it was excellent. She isn’t afraid to speak out Truth and makes many humbling, convicting and interesting points! A must-read in my world! I give it a five out of five!
New Morning Mercies – Paul Tripp
As someone who really struggles to stay in the Word regularly, this has been a game-changer. My wonderful mentor suggested it when we were looking at options for books to read together, and I’m so glad I picked it up! This guy is great at speaking openly and honestly about God’s word and this stuff is powerful! I also love that each day’s devotional comes along with a chapter in the Bible that you can dig into if you want to or have the time. This one for sure gets a five out of five because it has really gotten my brain and heart moving in the same direction towards Christ many times!
